As it turns out, it wasn’t a Tottenham curse but a Harry Kane curse. Between 2014/15 and 2022/23, when Kane played for Spurs, his team had, on average, 0 titles per season. Meanwhile Bayern Munich had on average 1.33 titles per season in that timeframe (9 league titles, 2 cups, 1 champions league). Since Kane left Tottenham for Bayern both teams now stand at 0.5 titles per season, with Tottenham up by 0.5 and Bayern down by 0.83. Therefore, having Kane in your team seems to reduce your title chances.

He literally js won a trophy tho (technically a plate, but still a trophy nevertheless) Must’ve js been a Kane at Spurs curse, a toxic relationship, wonder how he would’ve done at Arsenal.

My point was (admittedly as a bit of a joke) that Bayern won significantly fewer titles than they did before Kane arrived while Spurs won a title after he left.

I’ve followed Spurs less this year than in past years, so I’m not aware of what has caused their form to be so bad. Injuries? Managing? Not spending on talent? Even winning a trophy is hard to justify keeping him if the root cause of such an unbelievably horrible season is him.

Injuries mostly. Plus a very intense playing style that needs quality depth that they lacked.

Having said that I haven’t followed the EPL very closely either. But this is the consensus of some of the people in football I respect. Also the stats backup the idea.

The problem for both Spurs and Man U is that their euro runs have been a distraction from shockingly bad league seasons.

Man U must succeed next season so Amorim is on notice. Big Ange has bought himself some time, but what if Spurs are 17th when the Big Cup starts? It’s going to be a fascinating start to next season!

Atleast with Tottenham we’ve seen them play at elite levels with their starting 11. Especially when the cb pair is available. Having said that the top 12 were at a very high level this year. Going from 17th to 10th in a year with UCL would be a success imo.

Utd are a mess and I expect nothing. And I will enjoy the downfall and wait for the club to be sold.
