It’s frustrating that pawns and animals don’t avoid stepping on spike traps when moving animals from pen to pen. Is there any mod that fixes this or just makes spike traps never trigger on friendlies (removing the 0.4% chance)?
If you can’t find one, remind me 10 days from now. I’ll see if it’s possible. Odds are it’s hard coded, though
Heads up, there’s now a Remind Me bot for Lemmy nowadays.
Example syntax: [email protected] 4years 2d 3 mins and 2 seconds “Your Reminder”`
Nothin’
@[email protected] 1m “Hello from the future.”
Not exactly what you asked for, but I used to use the Path Avoid mod and paint those squares red to keep pawns off them. I kinda got out of the habit since you can no longer place traps directly adjacent each other and since the chance of triggering is now so low for friendlies. As long as another path is possible, I don’t find friendlies even trying to walk over them anymore; mine always seem to walk between.
Extremely relevant context I forgot to mention, I am using a two wide hallway with traps on the right on even spaces and fences on the left on odd spaces. Typically they just zig zag through without problems.
I’m using that mod and handle my traps marked but roped animals and colonists moving roped animals still walk straight across and trigger the traps. It’s especially annoying when it happened while leaving to go on a caravan trip. I even told myself it’s gonna be annoying if I move my horses inside and someone trips a trap on the way out. Guess what happened the first time I did it? lol.
I’m playing on 1.5.
I’d need to double check to be certain but I’m pretty sure even colonists carrying (rescuing/capturing) still avoid the traps. Definitely colonists moving slow due to hauling rock chunks. So I don’t think it has to do with movement speed. It really does just seem to be the animal roping. It makes me wonder if it’s using a different form of pathfinding somehow. Because it’s not like the do the zig zag and clip the trap. They’re definitely just walking straight.
