Out of many games, Final Fantasy titles were the least of my expectations to see on GOG. If you know Square Enix, you surely understand.
Anyway, this is a great day for DRM-free. 4 of the FF titles are finally here. Hopefully these are baby steps from Square Enix.
While i do not like the 3D Remakes :P i do am deeply happy that we got 8 and 9! :D Like seriously if we now can just get 7 PSX AND the FF7 Remake then im gonna eat a Broom as someone who has all 3 FF PSX Games on PSX this just makes me so Happy :D Yet another Amazing Great JRPG Series comming to GOG! :D Now all we need is NIS America and the DIsgaea or Rhapsody on GOG :P Maybe also Tales Series if possible tho i kinda doubt that :P
I should play the newer FF7 pc port sometime… i played the original port published by Eidos and it’s such a trainwreck. It relied on midi sound and came with yamaha soundbank software you were supposed to use to load samples into your soundcard or something? I never got it working and the music sounded like it was being played on recorders and harmonicas.
Holy Shit that sounds like a Mess X_X Itd assume the Steam Version is the newer Port? >.> I havent tried the FF7 STeam Version yet due to the Square Enix Requirement (yuck -.-) but from what ive read its honestly quite Amazing :D
yeah the steam version is the newer port that doesnt have the issue. the one im talkin about came out in like 1999 or something, the steam version is based on the 2012 version. and yes it was a mess.
The original PC port used MIDI music with a custom soundfont, however due to PlayStation and PC differences the resultant music is not the same. It can be replaced with the FFNx FF7Music mod. While the original PlayStation version outputs at 60 FPS with 3D elements running at lower frame rates, the PC port outputs at different framerates at different parts of the game: this causes the combat camera and some menu mechanics to have lower frame rates, but it can mitigated using mods.[2] Just like the PlayStation release, the resolution of the FMVs in the game are 320 x 224.[3]
Disgaea and Tales series would be really nice. Maybe we’ll see them too, who knows at this point! :)
Honestly i cant sadly believe considering that its Bandai Namco and they havent released a SIngle Game so far on GOG nor Nippon Ichi :( But a Man can dream i suppose :P I have the Disgaea and most Tales Games (except the Denuvo ones because fuck Denuvo) on STeam and i am quite happy with them :D Especially since Steam Games can be DRM Free Patched very Easily and Quickyl :D
Wonderful and unexpected news! Just bought them so I can stare at them in my library as I scroll past them trying to find a game to play. Then I’ll give up in defeat, but I’ll try again tomorrow possibly.
I’m stoked. This is awesome! I plan to grab 8 and 9.
Now we might have a chance for VII Remake / Rebirth via GOG! Fingers crossed!
That’s probably a really remote chance but I would count it good if we get even X/X-2, XIII, and maybe pixel remasters.
And they are all discounted atm!!
Oh shit, nice!
Holy shit, you aren’t joking. I did not expect this. Really cool!
Holy shit indeed!
YES. Even includes my two favorites in IX having a special place in my heart for multiple reasons like being why I met my wife and IV being the very first video game I ever played, though it was called II at the time in NA. I know I’m not the only one that love these games for more than them being good games, so I’m glad to see them preserved in another major way. Sakaguchi really created something special in this franchise and I’m thoroughly convinced Uematsu is video game music god.
If you’re a newsletter subscriber, check to see if you have received a voucher for a slightly higher discount. Couldn’t tell you the difference, I have to wait for my refund request to be processed.
With the voucher the 60% discount turns into 65%. Knowing Square, I highly doubt we’ll see a similar discount later. 60% is still good though.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooh
