I don’t get it. Why not work on FunkWhale? It’s opensource, on the fediverse, has a lot of work done and many problems solved.
If they want to have monetization, that can probably be added either with the help of the existing devs, in a fork, or maybe even in a plugin if that’s supported.

Funkwhale focus on streaming, Mirlo focus on music selling. Two different type of project
You can download stuff with funkwhale too. What it’s missing is a donation option and then it’d be like Bandcamp, IMO.
