Two members of Moms for Liberty, a right-wing activist group, have reported several Florida school librarians to law enforcement. They claimed they had evidence that librarians were distributing “pornography” to minors and requested that law enforcement officers be dispatched. This represents a serious escalation of the tactics deployed by members of Moms for Liberty against school librarians.

    FTA:

"Tapley told Popular Information that any book that has a “sex scene” is pornography and not “appropriate for minors.” ’

The correct response to that is “I see, I’m sorry you’re an idiot, your opinion isn’t valid. Shut up and go away.”

Why is it the people most likely to yell “pornography!” don’t actually seem to have ever seen actual pornography?

Do… do you think she knows the Bible has sex scenes?

I think, instead of reading the bible, she goes to church every Sunday and let a man who’s committed most of those acts summarise it for her.

80% of self identified Christians in America haven’t read the bible cover to cover.

They base their entire identity on a fucking book they haven’t even read. They just go listen to some asshole tell them what to think, and say “yup, that’s what I’ll base my idea of morality on!”

80 percent of voters haven’t read political theory.

Religious delusion and ignorance isn’t really unique. Nobody actually meets rigorous standards of knowledge for anything they ascribe to.

Which is exactly why misinformation peddlers are so dangerous. Human beings rely on other people for knowledge and most people only provide the information that benefits them while leaving out the information that doesn’t, or worse, they lie. I think humans greatest problem to overcome is our propensity to be largely misinformed on most of the topics that develop our beliefs.
