Britain likely to generate more electricity from wind, solar and hydro than fossil fuels for the first year ever in 2023::There are many milestones to pass in the transition from a high to low-carbon sustainable energy system. There is the first hour without coal, or oil, or gas generation (or all of them together) and the point when the last …

Yes, despite what the eco nuts tell you, Britain is actually very good at decarbonisation.

Yes, because supporting this decarbonisation means I’m pro-oil. Obviously.

The eco nuts I’m referring to are the “Just Stop Oil” and “Extinction Rebellion” types, who like to pretend we’re up there with the likes of India, China and the US in terms of pollution.

When you outsource all your manufacturing, it’s easy to be eco friendly at home.

And the oil companies are wholly dependent on you continuing to think that way. That is why you are a shill

What it means is, the UK can go fully renewable and it will make almost no difference to global emissions.

Climate action doesn’t work unless every country is involved.

Climate action doesn’t work unless enough of the most polluting countries act to kurb emissions.

As it turns out, the most developed countries are the largest polluters.

It also turns out that the most developed countries also have the most influence in geopolitics.

Why are you framing the UK like it’s in a vacuum?

If the UK does go fully renewable and carbon neutral or even carbon negative, that does have an impact because it will make the UK a leader in sustainability. That’s a lot of expertise in the whole range of PESTEL (Political, Economical, Social, Technological, Evironmental, and Legal) market forces across many industries that will be exported to other countries.

Ditch the Doomerism. When push comes to shove, humans will move heaven and earth to survive and reduce suffering. So start pushing and shoving those with the capital and political connections into making the better choices.

The future is built not gifted.

              Gotta start somewhere, my guy.
