Ehh, I read it as her getting that it wasn’t made for her, but since that’s the punchline she can’t lead off with it without ruining the joke.

Doesn’t read that way to me, but it could potentially be another layer of humor on a post where potentially nothing real happens lol.

I can’t even begin to imagine someone making me a playlist that I’d consider “really good”. I hardly can create that for myself

I think that playlist making is a skill. I used to be bad at it, but when I was real depressed, I got frustrated because I was listening to much sad music that a single blob playlist was insufficient for my despair. “Autodefenestration” (throwing oneself out of a window) and “L’appel du vide” (french for “the call of the void”) felt like distinct vibes, and playlists were the way I articulated that.

To be clear, I’m aware of how ridiculous and pretentious this sounds, I know I certainly laugh at that aspect of my depression. But legit, I threw time into playlist making when I was too depressed to do much else with my time, and I ended up becoming someone who was good at making playlists

Music taste conversations are super informative. It’s not even necessary to get specific.

Do they “hate” large swaths of music blindly? Do they enjoy trying out unfamiliar types of music out of curiosity? It’s kind of like seeing how a person treats wait staff at a restaurant.

I love music but on day to day rarely seek it out or intentionally just sit and listen to music. I’ve become super open to listening to anything anytime. Especially if it’s not standard top stuff.

Btw if anyone has some random music suggestions I’ll give it a go.

I’ve picked these more or less at random but with not too much genre overlap and I tried to avoid very popular stuff for the sake of bringing something new to the table (If you don’t like any of it, see my comment history for my fav Taylor Swift songs lol).

You don’t have to listen to all of it, just pick the first one if you’re unsure

        • Fiesta Bizarra - Samsa.Exe. Peruvian mathcore/screamo
        • SanIsidro - Solitária. Valencian guy with a guitar, idk I dig his music
        • Cistem Failure - Stick Together. German folk punk band, nice if you like banjos and washboards
        • Take a Worm for a Walk Week - Shagadugaday. Some Scottish rock music, idk I guess it’s punn
        • Kikagaku Moyo - Can you Imagine Nothing. Japanese Krautrock/Psychedelic Rock
        • SHXCXCHCXSH - OFFOFFOF Swedish Techno Duo, their music is weird but I love it
        • The Hirs Collective - XOXOXOXOX. Grindcore? Idk but this slaps

Wow. That was super interesting. Started out not sure what to make of it, nothing crazy happening musically, but the grueling slow pace of the beat is set so perfectly just about where you can still hold rhythm. I found myself every time hanging on the king drawn bars of near silence before a single bar of a few quick words.

And top that with what feels like a poetry reading.

That one’s going in my random all playlist.

I liked that, cool kind of blend of harder rock vocals and intermittent full sound with a lighter synthy side and more delicate singing.

Hating people for having bad taste is a bit too much I think. Unless they’re on a bus with a bluetooth speaker.

Oh and it’s a really cheap speaker with the range of a '80s telephone. So it’s constantly bottoming out and they’ve got it turned up too way loud.

          Ooh, music bliss.

Like as in people who only listen to one specific genre of music and don’t expand their horizons. Have you looked up at of the rap songs in the past year? Tell me if you like any of them.

Does he only date people with the same taste in music or does he use this tactic to both listen to his music and simultanously appear like he’s doing something sweet?

Funny how relevant the other person’s taste musis was to my teenage and college self. Makes no difference anymore. Maybe cause I am dead inside.

I am almost 40 and would never… ever… date anyone who listens to county. Ever. And I live in a rural town so it REALLY LIMITS MY ALREADY LIMITED CHOICES.

          Good thing I am married.
