Flagstaffto Health - Resources and discussion for everything health-related@lemmy.world•A deadly E. coli outbreak hit 15 states, but the FDA chose not to publicize itEnglish3·4 hours agoWhat exactly does that mean, though; just ignore research? I do believe that it’s worth sounding the alarm about changing our eating habits, even if it sucks.
Now I’m seeing that we may have to abandon rice altogether (which sucks because I live off the stuff): Global warming will make rice toxic due to more arsenic accumulation
It would be nice to be able to ignore new, scary research, but being prepared lets us more gradually make uncomfortable switches. Even this just dropped, so hopefully we’ll be able to figure something out here: Toothpaste widely contaminated with lead and other metals, US research finds (April 17: just yesterday)
Flagstaffto Health - Resources and discussion for everything health-related@lemmy.world•A deadly E. coli outbreak hit 15 states, but the FDA chose not to publicize itEnglish61·19 hours agoWow, mocking isn’t cool on Lemmy; we are trying to get away from Reddit, not become the next one, right? I have insulted no one here and am certainly no professor in the room. These guys are, though: Heavy metal contamination in vegetables and associated health risks
This article is from March 2025, so it’s not outdated by any means. Lettuce is a hyperaccumulator of heavy metals and food from the surface is increasingly becoming toxic to eat if it isn’t naturally self-protective (like avocados, mushrooms, onions).
I thought you were literally asking and not promoting an article. I would say always, through either of the two:
- Wells Fargo (I know…) Bilt credit card
- GreenDot cashier’s check via Walmart using any card that gets cash-back on Walmart orders (or possibly by using a Walmart gift card).
You can always get rewards this way.

Flagstaffto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•I want to keep access, grow and move through my red charkra without meditation or drugs.English62·1 day agoWhat do you mean? Are you implying that the non-spiritual can’t do so?
TBH, yeah, underarm hair is unattractive in Western society (or at least in the US, I think), so I would probably shave them if I took that route. Either way, it looks more like something one would wear at home: super-casual when one should probably step it up at least just a bit when outside among strangers—but that’s just me!
I just realized: should we be following suit by adding that link to the end of our comments like what you’re doing? Hmm… Does it work?
FlagstaffOPtoFrugal@lemmy.world•Does anyone else intentionally have no ISP-provided Wi-Fi at home and instead ration mobile data for Internet access?English1·1 day agoOh, this is purely a money-saving move. However, yes, had I thought of it, I would also have been turning off the router whenever leaving home.
Flagstaffto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Maybe a young Margaret Atwood witnessed the unveiling of her time capsule book in 2114 and then travelled back in time to close the paradox loop by arranging the time capsule book in the first place.English1·1 day agoThat show’s first episode was so slow and boring that I couldn’t even finish it, sadly.

FlagstaffOPtoFrugal@lemmy.world•Does anyone else intentionally have no ISP-provided Wi-Fi at home and instead ration mobile data for Internet access?English2·2 days agoOh yeah, I had tried PDA, too. I can’t remember why, but I think because it worked identically to TetherFi, I returned to TF probably because it’s open-source. (But with my old phone’s hotspot feature getting miscategorized as normal mobile data usage, I just treat a second phone as a hotspot, haha—and not as primary due to its inferior stats as an older, budget phone, ironically enough.)
Ohhhhhh… that’s a deal-breaker for my group. Darn, thanks.
