What’s especially unfortunate is that it’s not just men that perceive it negatively. I’m reminded of Brené Brown’s Ted Talk quote: https://youtu.be/psN1DORYYV0?t=16m37s

Not the op, but since you seem serious, I think a better way of wording it would be, “spent centuries at war and attempted to genocide a few cultures”. So, aside from the fact that most of the history of Japan is just waring states and almost never ending infighting, you can look into the Imjin War for Japan’s first attempt at conquering the mainland in the 1500s. It would also be worth looking into their conquest and/or eradication of the Ainu, Emishi, Ryūkyū Kingdom.

For fear, anxiety, and panic, the 5-4-3-2-1 Exercise is amazing.
Woke up randomly in the middle of the night at around 5 years old to “USA - Up All Night” (which, for anyone who doesn’t know, was the name of the USA TV Channel’s night time, more adult oriented, programming). They were playing the movie Poltergeist and I had the pleasure of waking up just in time to see the scene with the kids being dragged under the bed by the clowns.
Needless to say, it took about 15 years for me to sleep with my feet even close to the edge of the bed.

Feel like I spoke kids the first 12 or so years of my life.
