It’s a good control but you hate the way they implemented that control. I get it. It’s legitimate. I have to use Google for work so there is no escape. If I recall correctly (was many years ago), they wanted an SMS number before I could switch over to a proper authenticator.

I’ve been a Reddit user for many years. It was a great run but I’m moving here. For now I’m missing quit a few favorite communities but that should improve with time.

I worked for a startup in the 90s, pre-enshittification, that wanted to empower micropayments on the web. Obviously, even when mostly “frictionless”, users rejected the concept. Capitalism is going capitalize, but this is also the fault of users who demand “free”.
