I’m not saying that the democrats in power aren’t benefitting from all the horrendous shit the republicans are doing, but I do find it interesting that American voters completely neutered the democrats, stripped them of any kind of power and then proceed to complain that they’re not doing anything about the republican hellscape that followed.

They still approved Trump’s candidates, they still caved in and let the budget through instead of twisting Trump’s balls. They still don’t really use state forces to police ICE and stop them from doing Gestapo shit.

So as an outsider, yes, the Democrat party showed in the last year that they (as a party, some members are active opposition) are not in opposition to Trump in my opinion.

Please do explain how we stripped them of the power to vote against things. Explain to me how it’s our fault Democrats voted to keep funding ICE and funding the Gaza genocide. Be specific.

You mean why they didn’t filibuster the one reconciliation bill on the senate which was literally the only chance they had to stop the administration?

Because the government does a lot of stuff, like say, feeding poor people, providing healthcare to seniors etc. And when the reconciliation bill came through, trump was still broadly popular.

So, what you’re asking is for the Democrats to hurt a lot of people until the Republicans simply changed the rules to remove that obstacle, which they have the power to do.

So, I guess the better question is, exactly how did you expect the Dems to stop these things? Be specific.

My bad, I misunderstood your question and gave you too much credit.

Your question is “why weren’t the Dems a party for which I wanted to vote.”

And in reality, not all choices are ideal. When it came to the Presidential election, there were two options, vote Democrat or support trump by either voting Republican or abstaining.

Enough people chose the latter and so here we are.

They neutered themselves by sabotaging their progressive candidates in favor of corporate shills.

Dems could join Khanna and Massie in voting for the Iran war powers act to stop us going to war in Iran at Israel’s behest, but they refuse because they too agree with neocon foreign policy. In fact, Schumer and Jeffries are trying to stifle so much as a vote by leaking inflated numbers of alleged dems who would vote against it, as a scare tactic. They are Israel first, capital second. American people - our soldiers who will die in this idiotic war, or the 80%+ of our population against this war - hardly a concern.

This meme is specifically for people like you - liberals serve capital, not people.

Odd to make memes about American politics for Danes… I’m mostly here to watch something while eating my popcorn.

The Democrats weren’t neutered. They are just the other side of the same coin. The Democratic Party has just as much been the party of genocide, mass surveillance, and unfunded wars. The question is what populations’ lives are you willing to sacrifice to ensure that white America stays comfortable? Equality for some is not equality.

I don’t disagree with you. Having a two party system has led to two parties that are largely following the same agenda via different paths. However the democrats were voted out of any kind of power leaving the republicans to make their wettest of dreams come true. Which is why what is happening in the USA right now can only be described as fast tracking the republican utopia. No pesky democrat interference allowed.

That’s because this all stems from the disinformation campaigns that have been going on for decades. It’s not only about putting the person they want in power, it’s about making sure the opposition is seen as a weaker option even to their own supporters. The vast majority of Democrats don’t harbor this self-loathing hate against the democratic party. We see it as something that needs improvement, but we also understand that Harris wouldn’t be using ICE as her own gestapo. There is any enemy here, and it’s the ones that post “both side” memes like this. It’s not edgy. It’s not clever. It’s shit like this that gets people killed in the streets because it’s shit like this that kept people away from the polls last time. So, Doug Holland can go fuck himself.
