China’s claims don’t stand up to any scrutiny. The whole world has seen over and over how China has been attempting to setup a conflict with any country operating in this general area. We see them bumping into ships, coming within feet of aircraft, setting up chain nets, etc. For them to say “oh look the Phillipines hit us!” is outrageous. China is nothing more than a school yard bully who repeats “stop hitting yourself”, and like a bully their behaviour comes from a place of deep inadequacy and insecurity.
China wasn’t invited to discussions on the Treaty of San Francisco that decided Japanese war reparations and territorial claims in the South China Sea. This is despite China being the country that perhaps suffered the most from the Axis powers and definitely the country that suffered the most from Japan.
Nevermind that Chinese claims to the Paracels are substantiated by them literally fighting the South Vietnamese out of them during the Vietnam War, who themselves had conquered the islands from China after Japan’s defeat in WW2.
The China who was actually involved in the war were pushed into the country of Taiwan. The CCP took advantage of the devastation to continue to wage a civil war after seeing the power vacuum left after WW2. The CCP had very little to do with the war and definitely did not suffer the most. The only significant engagement the CCP had was an ambush against transport and supply units.
More people died due to famine under Mao Zedong than the entire 2nd Sino-Japanese war.
How many people died due to famine under the KMT? Under the Qing Dynasty? Famines in China prior to the CPC used to occur every few years, maybe every decade of the weather was good. Following 1961, China has never had a famine. China’s average lifespan has skyrocketed. China has went from being a poor country on the order of Niger to a solidly developing one.
Neither China received any sort of war reparations from Japan.
Either way, this is deflection because it avoids the entire issue of Chinese territorial claims in Asia being almost entirely ignored uin the Treaty of San Francisco. There’s a reason the PRC and ROC are aligned in their territorial claims, and it’s not entirely yet because of civil war shenanigans. Both the PRC and ROC believe that they were scorned by Western negotiators when deciding territory post-WW2.
