Didn’t you hear, Trump was changing his stance on EVs because Musk bought him, I mean, donated to him.

I was expecting this car to open a Pandora’s box in the auto industry and force tighter regulation of safety standards. Considering how this thing violates the 100 year long gentleman’s agreement of companies improving safety on their own.

I’m not sure why I’m surprised nothing happened. Can’t expect too much from Dem cabinets I guess.

I agree that it’s the right thing to do but it would probably be costly and widely unpopular to increase safety standards on the road. It’s not worth it to miss out on combating the rise of fascism by losing elections after implementing long-term improvements that enrage people in the short term.

Yes, this is a downside to the two-party representative democracy.

There are one or two in my home town, I spotted one coming out of a country club. Not just any country club but one of the most expensive ones in the region. So, no doubt he bought it for truck things. Just average every day truck things, definitely not a trophy.

Fucking hell it’s uglier in person.

The wheel placement is off compared to other trucks. Because the battery pack runs between the wheels the wheels are pushed out to the very edges of the body. However traditionally trucks, especially on the rear axel, have a bit of hang over due to the axel placement for maximum payload.

It is about the front wheel not beeing in the middle of the fender. Why are you talking about the bed?

It is not off compared to other trucks. Its just off. And reasoning this with the battery - they could just align the fender anyway. So wtf??

Tesla engineers and even musk have all talked extensively about the wheels being pushed to the edges of their vehicles specifically because of the battery pack. It creates a longer wheelbase for battery storage capacity and creates a more skateboard like architecture for them to build upon. The safest place for batteries is stored between the wheels as that’s the cabin structure.

My rationale in talking about the bed is also because it’s off from the traditional truck layout. This isn’t a typical body on frame truck and so it has more design ideology that makes it look awkward. The person I responded to said they’ve seen them in person and the wheel placement seems off. There’s no indication they’re talking about front only.

So they couldn’t build their idea with the aimed capabilities and just moved the axles further apart if I understand you correctly.

Sounds like they were on a budget. But great for them bringing it to production!

I’ve seen one in person, it was in motion, I recognized the silhouette. The wheels struck me as weirdly big. looked like a toy that wasn’t quite proportioned right.

I saw someone post a picture of it next to some generic “crossover,” you know how life forms all eventually turn into crabs? They call it carcinification? Well cars apparently crossoverify. So it’s a Cyber Truck sitting next to a Lexus fuk60 or whatever and someone says “PS1 graphics vs PS5 graphics” and it’s true.

Wasn’t the consensus on fortnite that anytime a cyber truck rolled up, all previous engagements were put on hold until the elonaldmobile was a smoking crater?

Can we translate over to real life? Please?

I mean if this gets conservatives into EVs, at least SOME good will come out of this ugly, dysfunctional heap of metal.

Next we need someone to convince them that cars in general are evil and it’s much better for their freedom to use public transport

I don’t know why people think cars are freedom. You have to fuel, maintain, and store that thing constantly. When I had a car I always had that shit in the back of my mind.

Now I just get on the train and I show up where I need to be.

But I guess conservatives struggle to imagine a different world. All the highways, auto repair shops, and gas stations just appeared effortlessly by magic, but building trains is impossible.
