Came into the comments to read about petting baby cows. Left feeling icky. ☹️

Maybe its just cause I’m high, but baby cows are frickin adorable, and now I’m thinking about finding a rancher friend.

So you’re more familiar with the end stage of the process.

The moms lick them clean after birth, and if you’re expecting any animal to be clean I got bad news for ya.

Bonus fun fact the cows tend to eat the afterbirth as well. Source grew up on a farm/ranch, if you want gross learn about prolapse. Guess who had skinny arms as a teenager and got to help keep cows alive till the vet came and had two thumbs? This guy… not sure I should be proud of what I had to do but yeah cows is expensive.

There’s a dairy farm somewhat close to me that let’s you pet the cows and watch them get milked. It’s pretty cool.

        1. Cows don’t make extra milk, you have to take their baby’s from them and then take that milk.
        2. Cows need to be impregnated constantly to keep milk flow.

Its possible theres an ethical dairy farm but ive yet to see one.

You’re upset some people don’t find it cute to separate baby cows from their mothers immediately following birth?

Have you heard a mother cow screaming for their newborn before?

This is just like saying theres no problem with exotic animal zoos.

When animals are treated as property and a means to make money, inhumane things happen. Then those people pretend they didnt happen, and put the animal bits in nice packages that have pictures of happy animals in fields on them.

Maybe you being busy with birthing 15 calves in the last 48 hours is the reason why dating a rancher is a hassle?

    Ka-ching.

    Eat them.

    Ka-ching.

    Eat them when they’re raw.

    Ka-ching.

    We always ate them.

    Ka-ching.

    Juicy.

    Ka-ching.

    Give me the knife.

The only women who appreciate being confronted with the consequences of their animal consumption are vegans, and vegans hate ranchers.

That’s exactly what someone who understands where that calf comes from and the life it is going to have thinks. Do you look at photos of child slaves and think, “Awww, they’re so cute!”

          vegan reactionary

Committing the unconscionable crime of knowing where steak comes from.

          They abuse their cat

Willing to bet that cat lives 6x longer than those calves.

Well this post is 5 years old, and there aren’t newer posts since 2021 since poster passed away, so I dont know for sure they are abusing animals, but the idea is that calves are separated from their mothers within the first few days usually. Its a traumatic experience for the baby and the mother.

The cow was forcibly impregnated which is pretty rough but thats a different issue.

She probably dumped him for a reason. I doubt the calves are going to make up for his misogyny and liberal use of the hard r.
