I was banned from Reddit for posting a video of Amouranth saying what sounded like genocidal shit with the worst possible timing in the r/iamatotalpieceofshit sub for advocating violence in a subreddit that exists to shame those who do awful things. I successfully appealed it, but I’m still permanently banned.
Take this as a sign and get off reddit.
The only helpful answer
Every fucking single thing in this screenshot rubs me off the wrong way:
- you appealed the ban but you’re still banned
- the message tells you to visit your inbox when you’re already there
- the babble about “lebbit is wut we maek it be”
- that bloody assumption about your “understanding”
It screams corporate apologies + incompetence from a distance. Goddammit I’m happy that that site is going the way of the dodo.
CLM by the way.
What is CLM? quick internet search says “Cuck Lives Matter” but it sounds a bit out of context in this thread.
Cuck Lives Matter
This is the funniest fucking thing I’ve read all week and that’s including the ceo memes.
One of the acronyms used in this comm. Check the sidebar:
CLM - Clueless mod: The mod probably just doesn’t understand how their software works.
Every fucking post on here, someone uses an acronym nobody recognises, someone else makes a smartass reply, and then there’s another reply stating what it means as if it’s obvious.
It would be far easier to just use words.
Fwiw, some methods of access to Lemmy make it extremely obvious - the desktop browser mode puts it into the “sidebar” area on the side, and PieFed even from a mobile device puts the sidebar text down below every single post - while certain apps and the mobile basic web UI does not show it by default.
Even as I type this the list is directly to the right of my text, though most of the time I just use Firefox on Android and then it does not show.
I dunno if this explanation helps but I was trying to convey how different people access this site via different methods (even on different days or times of day), so it perhaps gets confusing then when some people see the direction to do things one way, but then new users don’t see that.
That sidebar doesn’t even show up when I’m viewing a post, only on the main community page. This is Boost for Lemmy.
PieFed will show it. But Lemmy from a mobile won’t show a sidebar for posts, only for the community, as you are also seeing on Boost (and I don’t see it on Mbin or using Voyager either). So the info is there, but not nearly so easily presented unless someone is using a desktop, PieFed, or perhaps some apps might show it.
Then again, whoever made the community and the existing userbase gets to decide what they want done.
I’m doing it because that’s what I expect from an “am I the arsehole? Mod edition” community. That said, if you think that they’re obnoxious you might want to tell db0 (the mod of this comm) as feedback, since the sidebar kind of encourages their usage.
Thank you. I so agree.
Ah, ok, thank you, I didn’t notice that
… That’s quite the acronym…what?
That’s pretty fucked up. Looks like a clueless mod situation rather than a PTB, but certainly still frustrating
At least they told you what they banned you for. I appealed mine and they were like, nope you’re still banned and we won’t tell you why.
They also automatically ban every new account I made that they can link to me.
I’m still on there on a single unbanned account (to comment on some very specific things for specific reasons) but I spend much more of my time on here.
maybe you’re just banned again
Is it a case where the ban removal hasn’t taken effect yet? Which is shitty in its own way, since they take effect at the push of a button
But the message says the ban will be lifted, so it could just be a matter of that button not being pushed yet, or shitty software not making it happen quickly. Worth checking, if you’re wanting to still use that account
Reddits banning system sucks. I got permabanned from reddit for literally nothing:
1: I pissed off a mod on a large sub which then banned me for “ban evasion” which was BS. (I only had one account)
2: A few months later I leaned I could change my name by deleting my account and re-creating it. I did this to change my name to the one I’ve gone by online for 2 years at that point
3: I left a comment on that sub by accident (it was a large sub) and got automatically permabanned from all of reddit
Appeal got denied nearly instantly too.Never get attached to a handle.
