- A bug in the most recent Windows 11 update removes Copilot from systems entirely.
- Microsoft is currently working on a fix but those who need the app can simply redownload and install it from the Windows Store.
- The update also introduced a bug for Roblox players on Arm hardware.
Keep pushing accidents like that and I might actually give 11 a try.
in an unrelated note, windows speed is now tripled with the latest update.
Removing the copilot was a happy accident
Microsoft accidentally made windows better in an update for the first time in years 😂
Finally, a good windows update!
Update KB5053598 is a very simple update that includes “miscellaneous security improvements to internal OS functionality”
Removing Copilot wasn’t unintentional at all. They said so right there in the release notes.
i believe you’re on to something, with the thought that removing it wasn’t unintentional…
i am willing to bet it was deliberate, but as a way to catch more users who refuse to upgrade from Win10 BECAUSE of Copilot. once they get more users to adopt, they simply put it back in, in one of their updates
I think they just made a release without it (for EU or stuff) and either forgot to turn in back on for regular releases, or it didn’t because of a bug.
that makes more sense than my dumb conspiracy idea!
Microsoft Accidentally Gives Customers Exactly What They’ve Been Asking For, Promises to Fix It Quickly
“… and nothing of value was lost.”
"But imagine that in a decade maximum, your computer would have full conscience and be like Torment Nexus from the hit novel series “Don’t Build the Torment Nexus”.
Please don’t fix it; we’re ok living with this bug.
Thanks, 98% of your users
*without this bug
Will be hard to argue that it cannot be removed, like they did with internet exploder…
I uninstalled copilot and that bitch reinstalled itself.
Reminds me of “you are being rescued. Please do not resist”
Classic Microsoft. You are really just being a guest in your own computer.
Glad to be moving to Linux this year, wiping the last of my Windows-based installations out of my house.
I really want to do this but I can’t, is creative cloud running on linux?
Not to my knowledge, no*. Though it’s been a while since I looked into it.
* Outside of running them inside a Windows VM on Linux, but that has its own issues. Especially if you use any of the CC apps that need GPU acceleration. It can definitely be done, but I’d argue most people are not going to want to go through the effort and rather just use Windows directly.
Yup, I’m sticking to my current setup. When windows 11 gets forced unto me I’ll probably switch to linux and buy a beefy mac for adobe.
This is the best Windows Update in ages
Honestly this sounds like a veteran MS dev who wanted to ensure he had a good ISO build of windows to install without AI shit down the line after he retired. Props to whatever MS dev (or devs) made this happen
This is like a vet telling me they accidentally removed a life threatening tumor in my dog while doing something else.
Like damn not sure how you did that by accident but wait what don’t try to put it back what the hell?
Also did you just put ads INSIDE MY DOG? What the hell is wrong with you?
dogs can sell anything
Completely unrelated segue, but your comment reminded me of this one vet appointment I had with my dog.
He was in for having his teeth cleaned, and came out with his claws trimmed. They managed to cut into his quick on five claws. I don’t even know how they managed to do that, I don’t do that and I don’t have the advantage of him being sedated when I clip them. Then they had the absolute gall to charge me for trimming his claws.
To top it all off; I had an appointment booked with the groomer next-door a couple of days after that so their “service” was unwarranted and unwelcome.
Not your dog, you only own the license to have them as a pet and it can be withdrawn at any time.
I hope this bug never gets fixed!
