I’m tired, boss.
Can’t say I’m suprised if this is what I think. More suprised it took this long
Yeah this is probably the big one, the writing has been on the wall for a while so it’s not surprising.
Say it ain’t so
Not that the confirmation is surprising, but graduation is confirmed.
disagreements with management and company direction
Okay that part I didn’t really expect to be the sole mentioned reason @_@
Edit: there’s no further elaboration on the reasons: [* see edit2]
I will be graduating from Hololive on May 1st, 2025, JST. My reasons being disagreements with management and company direction.
Here’s the official statement: https://cover-corp.com/en/news/detail/20250416-01
Edit2: I will point that although she didn’t say something to the effect of “and for [mental] health reasons”, she did also briefly touch on the pressure / anxiety she felt, so the idea that “disagreements with management” is general boilerplate is still at least somewhat plausible but as outsiders we might never have a clear picture of things.
I’m not surprised that she’s graduating but I am surprised that Hololive is not correcting course to accommodate such major talents. I guess the company is changing as it’s growing, but I can’t see myself being a fan of this direction. Ah well, there are always indies.
Sad, but not a surprise unfortunately
If this is what we all think it is, we’ll have had as many graduations in these 9 months as in the 6 years before them.
And it’s good that none of them have been terminations but still… man.

Sorry but this comes off as very conspiracy theory-ish.
First, Brave’s circumstances are much different from Cover’s, and you’d be crazy to stealth-terminate someone and then give them 14+ days to yap about it. The only occurrences that smelled a bit of termination were Magni and Vesper’s, but looking at their PL even those seem like genuine graduations, albeit definitely less amicable.
Second, the idol narrative has already been debunked multiple times, it was one thing when it was just Ame, but Fauna stated bluntly that she liked it and now Mumei and Gura were two of the most Idol-invested talents in EN. At most, I can see the Japan trips starting to take a toll, considering how all the recent 4 EN graduations were US-based talents with a limited knowledge of Japanese.
Third… I don’t even know how to answer the autism narrative. If they wanted to get rid of neurodivergent-seeming talents they’d have to fire 90% of the whole company. And I mean, you’re telling me they’re trying to avoid normalizing neurodivergence in the same 12 months where they hired Gigi Murin?
Don’t forget. It’s about the journey, not the destination.
THIS SUCKS ON ICE
Gura was (is) still one of the most watched vtubers.
This is the beginning of the end.
If I may ask, why was this expected, what’s been happening with Hololive? I haven’t been following VTubers in a long while so I’m completely out of the loop.
Gura has basically been inactive for the past 2+(?) years only showing up for the occasional stream
She’s been super active, just not streaming. She’s one of the brand ambassadors in Japan and does a bunch of promo/PR work.
Oh true, I never really pay attention to that
Hololive as a whole, no one really knows. There’s been a shift in direction and some talents mentioned disagreements with management and company direction as reasons for graduating/leaving, but no one really knows what it entails, except of course the company growing to be much bigger than any of them ever imagining 4+ years ago.
People (me included) were sort of expecting this for Gura since in recent years she was one of the talents which streamed less in general due to burnout and whatnot, and it’s been clear for a while that, for an introverted person with a good degree of anxiety, being literally the most famous vtuber in the world was taking a toll on her.
I remember talks of “Gura’s about to graduate” since 2 years ago if not more, it’s a wonder that she managed to keep going for so long.
it’s over
Saw it coming. o7
hololive… owari da…
