As title suggests. Thank you Shaq for thinking about struggling parents who just want the best for our kids.
So…Walmart, the company that runs other businesses into the town by selling things at a loss and then purposefully paying below poverty level so their employees have to get welfare.
Sure but some information failed to be reported above. Shaq was a 20 year old doof and it was 1992. The full scope of Walmarts potential harm was likely hard to grasp by a kid who struggled to get through high school and had to have custom made size 22 shoes to be able to have shoes to wear to school/practice/ whatever. He wasn’t great with money and one of his teachers advised him to get a financial advisor soon as he was offered a contract. Shaq was smart enough to listen, and nice enough to agree to having cheaper shoes parents could afford rather than $70+ Iverson’s (came out later obviously), $100+ Jordons etc.
Was the 20 year old Shaq the perfect role model? Probably not at all, but he wasn’t a supervillain.
Frankly, not being a supervillain is enough to be a role model these days imo
Oh I didn’t bother to click so didn’t realize it was about the 90s. All your points are correct.
Shaq is a fucking asshole, and a bully. Watch the 2nd half of this interview, that’s all I need to know how about someone acts.
Hot ones? I remember watching that episode years ago, don’t remember him being an asshole or a bully, what parts are you referring too?
From what i remmeber, the last 5-10 minutes he goes mask-off and forces Sean to eat all the hot sauces combined, and then takes his water away and says he can’t have it, after shaq had already tapped out and drank water and milk himself. He literally grabs the glass of milk out of Sean’s hands as he’s trying to drink it, the last minute of the interview.
Then they’re supposed to be shooting hoops in a good natured challenge, and Shaq cheats by extended his arm over the line to make the shots and win.
He’s just kind of an asshole the whole interview, and admits to being racists to Yao Ming making fun of Chinese English dubbing when talking to Yao Ming, and he says he stopped because his father told him thats its disrespectful, but he didn’t stop because its racist, only stopped because his father told him to.
Long story short, he’s just kind of asshole. Watch the interview and judge for yourself.
Judging a man’s entire personality based off of a lighthearted chicken wing eating youtube show and some no-context stories is an insane decision
Yeah, growing up in Orlando and having watched my brother play a pick up basketball game with him at red bug park ( I was a bit to young then, but we both played with Dwight Howard a few years later). Dude was a good guy. Didn’t make money and it wasn’t some charity, no cameras around and smart phones weren’t a thing then. Just kids playing ball at a popular spot. It’s where kids like Chandler Parsons played all the time. We played ball with him throughout middle/high school. I’d give more details but I’m fairly sure it would narrow my identity down to only a few people if I gave more haha
I get how you could maybe call it bullying but when Shawn says no, it was a no. And there was no pushing. Dude was trying to make good entertainment. He didn’t beat people up or steal people’s shit. Also Shawn did drank milk and have what he wanted. It’s bologna to call being mad at Shaq for this anything other than being way to “woke”. I support all people and all people’s rights, but if you think an idiot hurting joked in a way that was 100% acceptable to be bad… We are fucking ourselves.
Dude you are way off base. He is actually a decent human. Not saying he is perfect or anything but who is.
You ever hear the story of him buying a hotel because they were racist. He actually didn’t fire the employee as from what I remember he it was management pushing this policy. He gave them training said something like I believe in second chances
Bunch of videos on YouTube about it: https://youtu.be/6L78dPT-YoI
