    It’s because of this that I had to make the extremely undesirable (for me) decision to get sterilized. My surgery is soon and I’m still so bitter and angry at the people in power for what they’re doing.

      They don’t care. The end goal for a lot of these Christian Nationalists who literally are writing laws now is effectively the Handmaid’s Tale or worse - all those incels who spent the Obama years memeing about “government mandated girlfriends” might actually make arranged government marriages, or severe economic or political consequences for single women over a certain age, an actual thing.

        It’s about dehumanizing women and stripping them of their rights. Once they become property, then they can own as many as they want. Also, rape goes away because there is no such thing as raping your property. Everyone knows JDVance fucked his couch, but noone asks if the couch consented. Because couches are property.
        You know what else no one asks? How old was the couch? Once women are things, then pedo filial and incest also become non issues. It all becomes legal, right along with the whole blood transfusions from young children. I am sure all these horribly racist bastards hate having to go to other countries just to fuck some brown child, or get blood transfusions from the lesser people of the world.

          If you read Leviticus, the rape laws they had do pretty much treat it as damage of property to pay to the father, or the rapist just get executed if it’s a married woman and there’s ample evidence she fought “hard enough.”

    Just noting that this was in the context of cutting yet more things from foreign aid, and not a policy change in, say, the NIH, FDA, or proposed legislation.

    I think we would hear about a change in, for example, insurance regulation from someplace other than substack. Title is not wrong; but this administration is very willing to say whatever excuse first comes to mind. They are not consistent (or monolithic), except in a desire to make the world much worse.

        Note I did not say ‘first’. (Indeed, this post isn’t covering the statement first, it cites a quote from NYT article which I presume cites an official release of some sort. Neither of the other venue’s took the statement as particularly newsworthy/impactful afaict.)

        I’d argue that confidence implies some sort of acceptance of risk. Like how courage is doing something in spite of fear attached to doing that thing.

        Stupid asshole nepobaby has never faced real consequences in his life, so none of his actions can really be categorized as confident or brave. Just a potato with a current running through it powering a lightbulb.
