A little tongue in cheek, of course, and I’m not trying to devalue anyone’s experience or enjoyment of the games (to come). The CEO just makes it very hard for me to give LotF 2 any chance at all
I was interested in these games until I heard the CEO speak. Nope, I immediately took those games off of my wishlist and will boycott anything that company does. Also it looks janky as shit anyways.
Link?
I never played the original incarnation of LOTF, but LOTF “2.0” as it were, was middling at best. Some kinda cool ideas (not necessarily the two worlds thing, but minor mechanical ideas and QOL improvements to the souls formula) but overall it felt like a game made by someone who hates games and gamers. So many shit design decisions that had to be intentional with the only logical conclusion being the driving thought was “wouldn’t it be funny if we fucked over the player like X?”
However, it does replicate a lot of what makes DS and LoP good. A lot of it was only after the tweaks from the OG release, and most of it is good but I don’t believe the dev understands why; they just copied things based on player input. So I don’t have hope that LOTF2 would improve much. At least not on release. On top of the CEO being a creepy weirdo.
Ironically I had more fun with Lords of the Fallen 2014 than the sequel. Feels like it had more to it than being bad dark souls.
Hey hey…let’s keep my boy Leonard out of this!
(͡•_ ͡• )
I sadly couldn’t play LotF14 because the camera does this weird nauseating wobbly animation when you move around. I have to assume this was the fault of someone at CI Games, because LotF23 and both of the Surge games don’t have this issue.
Anyway, I don’t really get why LotF23 gets so much hate. It’s a baseline competent soulsborne-like with good combat, a fair amount of build variety with some neat options, tons of QoL, and no major issues. It’s a solid 7.5/10 and its only real crime IMO is how painfully unoriginal it is in tone and setting. I actually enjoyed it slightly more than Lies of P (probably mainly because of the increased build variety, because I’m a sucker for that). It’s great and I’m looking forward to the sequel.
The CEO is still a turd, but he wouldn’t be a CEO otherwise. 🤷
I share the same feelings about LotF23, but still won’t buy LotF2 because of their CEO. Let it flop
