So either he plans to make more money from manipulating the markets. Or he is just following Putins commands to keep the oil price up.

The article said they plan to block Iranian ports, not the Strait.

Think for a second. When he ramps things up by blocking just Iranian oil tankers won’t Iran retaliate.

Also if you read the article he says he will stop any ship that has paid Iran’s toll. He goes on further to threaten China with 50% tariffs.

What? So the US is going to block the straight that is already blocked by Iran, whilst the negotiation are going on to force Iran to open the straight?

Before this the only ships let through were the ones that were OKed by iran. You could be OKed by iran either if you were going there to buy and transport Iranian oil or if you paid Iran a huge fee. Either way Iran was making huge amounts of money on this especially since the oil prices were so high and they were the only ones able to export oil from the region.

So this recent move of blocking the straight completely is not a dumb move if one wants to weaken iran. There were headlines going around saying Iran was making more money during the war than before the war. Such a situation of course meant iran is in no hurry whatsoever to sign a peace deal with the US, especially not a disadvantageous one.

This new blockade will however highen oil prices even more now that not even Iranian oil can leave. But this will put pressure on Iran towards making peace deal. If a peace deal is met the strait can be completely open again and oil prices can start going down. That’s the thought behind it. We’ll see if it actually works. It doesn’t look like Iran is too desperate to sign a peace deal and why would they? They can probably handle not exporting oil for a longer time than Trump can politically survive constantly increasing fuel prices and inflation. And they know that fact. The Iranian leadership are crazy religious fanatics but they don’t strike me as stupid.

It’s also a state piracy which will not go well with China and others. Europe will stay silent, though, I guess.

Basically the only thing worse than Iran not opening the straight, is Iran only letting through Chinese vessels and taking a payment for it.

So, when the first Chinese ship goes through, what will they do? Attacking it will bring in a whole new issue. And won’t this free up Iranian forces to fight elsewhere?

That’s really the only context some of this makes sense from. Each Sunday night/Monday morning it’s a waiting game of what weird surprise will Trump pull out of his hat to give the market an excuse to pump.

He declared that during the weekend, while markets are closed, so that he can profit from it with another crazy declaration on Monday morning.

This is merely pure market manipulation.

No they will wait til Friday morning, and declare the blockade over. Most people are dumb so they will believe the strait is open and market goes brrrr. Only it will be the US blockade and the strait will likely remain closed.

I always got the impression that MAGA always knew their ideology was on the way out, and that Trump represents the last existential battle, like “Custers last stand”. It’s apocalyptic, and so they are in favor of burning the house down if they lose.

Not really, no. What they should have done day one is enact military law in the US, not martial law, and forcibly remove every single elected and appointed official to be tried publicly at the Hague and streamed to the entire world.

Lets be honest if we’re going to be dreaming about what should have been.
