VR wasn’t here to stay - at least for how it is now. Hopefully they are leaving VR behind to focus on the pragmatic potential of AR.

Microsoft was the first to invest heavily in AR. It was a giant flop. VR has sustained itself, but microsofts neutered attempts at it after the AR failure made them fail there, too. VR is doing fine. AR died long ago.

You clearly lack understanding of the industry’s current stance on these technologies. It’s crucial to be informed before making such statements. The industry has largely disregarded VR, its only significant presence being in gaming, where it remains unimpressive. In contrast, AR is revolutionizing XR applications across various sectors. It offers numerous opportunities to optimize workflows and enhance work experiences. Consider Microsoft’s recent release of MRTK3, which further sidelines VR. Think carefully about the reality of the industry before making unfounded statements.

Lmao, I’m a principal engineer at one of the big game engine companies. “AR is revolutionizing XR applications across various sectors” has been spammed for half a decade, hoping it will catch on.

It ain’t revolutionizing shit and barely anyone uses them / develops for them because they suck. Vision Pro is supposed to change that but I have it on good authority it still pretty much sucks for the same reasons.

I wonder how much of it is “requires hardware breakthrough” vs just mass scale for something good (and cheap) enough.

                It’s kind of a catch 22.

For it to grow to those levels it needs to sell but it needs to be at those levels to be affordable enough to sell haha

Lmao, next time you should think before mouthing off on a topic you have only surface level knowledge on.
