I’ve noticed that the external communities I’m subscribed to aren’t syncing. I checked a few on their home server (lemmy. world), and they’ve got plenty of new posts (eg. [email protected]), but the posts aren’t showing up here. I don’t think it’s just me, but I’ve been wrong before. Anybody else?
might be some federation issues, ill see if I can look into it
looked into it: not due to versioning and out of the realm of what I can fix, I passed it along so should hopefully be fixed soon
Would you mind sharing some details around what you learned?
nameservers and some of the access to the servers got messed up. Server couldnt see anything outside of programming.dev due to the nameserver not working
after its fixed
I came here because I noticed I wasn’t getting the posts from here on Mastodon anymore, since sometime a day ago (newest post in my Mastodon “Programming.dev” List says 1 day old). Sounds like the same issue, but thought I’d add this info as all the other comments are about not getting posts from other places here, but I’m not getting posts from here at Mastodon.
It seems that something went wrong with our nameserver, thus no connections to the ‘outside world’ were working. As soon as I added a new nameserver, federation started working again (this also affected server updates).
Thank you! I’m glad it was a relatively easy fix.
We still don’t seem to be syncing with lemmy.world.
Fixed it, should take a bit to fully catch up
I thought it was just me haha
It’s also just me, lol.
Federation issues are sneaky
Sorting by new for me brings up threads that are hours old, so it isn’t just you!
Same. Is it because we aren’t on the latest version, or is that unrelated?
I also noticed significantly less activity than usual so you are not alone. Judging by the other commenter, it’s likely some federation issue.
I am also missing comments on posts from other instances.
And on a post I made to World, I only got comments from here.
yeah, what’s going on?
Especially sorting by Top 12 hours doesn’t work.
