They seem to be from 80’, and somehow made their way into a french university. Has anyone here gotten a chance to read them? Some of the chapters seem interesting, lots about DOD stuff.
Take my opinion with a grain of salt because I didn’t want to research the books before writing.
Something that has ‘advances in …’ in the title is likely very outdated, because those are history by now. Data based computers also seem to be a concept of the past.
Nevertheless the former may have some ideas that are worth reinventing now, and the latter may be insightful if you want to learn about database design and optimisations. Both are likely of interest for retro enthusiasts, and at least are good as historical records.
Yeah but I feel like some concepts could be interesting, id at least get an overview about what old databases had in mind.
The one on Cybersecurity should be fascinating, and absolutely worthwhile. But there’s been all kinds of new ways to mess up Cybersecurity, invented after it was published, so it won’t be a complete overview.
Ill probably start with that one, it seems well written with historical anecdotes
Data Base - not a Database
I would hesitate to write to it given that it’s a data base more than a database
or is it actually not about databases?
