I really don’t care about either of these men, but they seem like they’re having fun and nobody that matters seems to care that he wore a bald cap instead of shaving his head. In fact, it kinda seems like that’s the joke…

He’s got a great head of hair. My wife thinks he’s a bit of a nutter though, but in a good, nice way.

Look at his hairline. He’s balding anyway so just gave it a try to see if he likes it. Made a PR campaign out of it, end of story

Being mad about this instead of Dave Coulier “dating” Alanis Morisette when he was in his 30s and she was 17 is like being mad at Obama about wearing a tan suit and not all the drone bombings or mass-deportations.

We’re bad at picking what to be pissed about.

Well you say that, but this Stamos guy is a fucking asshole, why didn’t he simply go rogue and shave his head and shutdown whatever production he is working on while his hair grows back, like those people working on it with him can take a few months without pay

It really did rain on my wedding day and I did not see the irony of the situation. We were inside so it really wasn’t a problem.

It was forecasted to rain on my wedding day and my wife nearly died, so I bought seven purple umbrellas and one big white umbrella so they could take pictures in the rain. It didn’t rain until after pictures. Is that irony?

Playing Devil’s advocate, is he autistic? A lot of autistic guys tend to date younger and find them easier to relate with. She was 17 and he was like 30? guess it depends on the law. Kinda silly that only a few months or weeks later and he’s not “a creep”.

Has he done anything else after that?

edit: funny how Lemmy down votes me for this, yet cheers and jerks off to Johnny Depp and similar men, who are 60 and grooming teens and banging girls in their 20s.

I left Bluesky to read men’s takes on Lemmy: “child rape is equivalent to a brown suit, despite the child herself writing and speaking about the pain and agony of that relationship,” and “autism is the same as pedophilia.” Amazing takes, Lemmy. This is why no one likes your app - the users are actual human garbage.

You’re right, the difference being a few weeks is silly. There should be a tier system instead. Like 15-, 16-17, 18-20, 21-24. If you’re an old fart, you can only date over 25. If you’re within one of the tiers, you can date within the same tier and maintain any relationship that was started when you were previously in the same tier. Something like that, but with a little more polish.

I would like to point out that actors are usually contractually obligated to maintain a specific appearance. Stamos may literally have not been able to shave his head in solidarity, so while seemingly noncommittal I think there could be more to the gesture. As you say, Dave is the only authority on the matter either way.

Ok, I kinda get it. His looks are his living, without those he has nothing. But seeing as that is the case, he might have found another way to support his friend rather than an empty, performative stunt.

Isn’t shaving one’s head an “empty performative stunt”? It doesn’t provide any benefit to the cancer patient.

I don’t think so if you’re fond of your hair. Even if it grows back, it’s a symbolic sacrifice in solidarity–a nice firm hug. A bald cap feels like a limp hug or a pat on the head.

Not that anyone should feel obligated to shave their head, but one major thing is that his hair is literally his livelihood. He may be under contract not to change his appearance, and shaving one’s head (especially at that age) might do permanent damage.

I doubt that Dave would want John to shave his head. But they’re good friends, and our opinion from the sidelines doesn’t really matter that much.

I think what people see as wrong with it is these sorts of gestures are usually actually shaving your hair off in support. As a way of saying you’re in this together and there to support the individual. This method comes off as disingenuous because you can just take the cap off and go back to your normal life, the other person can’t.

Ultimately it’s between them, but if you’re going to publicize it. It comes off as shallow and an attempt at making yourself a part of someone else’s illness

I think when you’re probably shooting (as in filming) stuff you can’t just shave your head in the middle of an ongoing project.

Otherwise I’d agree with the sentiment he should actually shave his hair but in this specific circumstance it doesn’t feel disingenuous.
