Texas is 800 miles wide. I know a guy who made the drive from central Texas to San Francisco and back in just over two days. That’s a 3200+ mile round trip.
Is that guy a big fan of stimulants? I did an absolutely insane road trip once that pales in comparison to that. I was driving 9-14 hours a day but what you just said sounds like 24 hour driving days.
He did the first leg on coffee, passed out while his friend in SF loaded the moving van, and then his friend drove the truck back part of the way and he took over when he woke up. The tuck was only ever parked long enough to load it, get food, or pee.
Thankfully I was on a separate trip or I’d have been guy #2.
Hell, my record is 29 hours straight, to pick up a friend from the airport. We then went on a vacation to a snow resort, but still, primary purpose was to pick him up from the airport. Good times.
I saw one of these that showed a location 500 miles in the other direction. It had an uturn arrow on it. They have so much money they can advertise to people not even heading in that direction.
Yeah but they got you thinking about with an ad that clearly sticks out in your mind, and maybe you’re gonna have to turn around when you’re done with your trip.
I once drove coast to coast. Started in San Diego California, drove a couple hours on I-15 up to Barstow to meet I-40, and then passed this sign:
Two and a half days later we pulled into Raleigh. I slept through most of New Mexico and all of Arkansas, I was at the wheel through Arizona, half of Texas (we switched at Amarillo), and some of Tennessee into North Carolina, my cousin was at the wheel otherwise. It’s the farthest single trip I’ve done by land.
That’s what an American would call a medium road trip. Short is anything under a day, about 8-12 hours. A short road trip might cover one or two states.
My Irish mind can’t comprehend such long distance drives

that is bonkers. Sounds like a tight group of friends you have!
Shit man that’s like me driving from Dublin to Athens Greece
It’s amazing that there are lots of animals that live out there. It looks so inhospitable.
One of my friends recently drove 14 hours in one shot. They took breaks, of course, but they did drive 14 hours, around 900 miles, in one day.
I did ten hours on Saturday. It’s not so bad.
Really? It sounds like you want to cry.

Yeah so if you coming from Wyoming in Colorado heading towards Denver you will know the sign I am speaking of.
