Good for the geordies, good for Eddie Howe who I think is a little underrated at this point. Liverpool can manage with just the prem, I think they’ll be just fine.

Feel chuffed for the Georgies on this one.

Separate note, should this year be considered a failure for Liverpool?

In my opinion, no. Slot winning the league in his first season is huge. But there’s no doubt they’ll be feeling disappointed. They seemed unstoppable for a while and nailed on for at least a double.

Pleased for the fans, they deserve it after years of failures and near misses - but it’s very hard to get past their ownership by an oppressive, murderous regime.

Again, a result I didn’t see coming. Somehow a Liverpool team, that looked like it was cantering to the Premier League title, easily stumbles in cup competitions. Perhaps they are not as strong as the league position would suggest?

I think “easily stumbles” is harsh.

In the FA Cup they played a weakened side - too weakened, and that was a mistake, but it wasn’t like the first team lost.

In the CL they took an awesome-looking PSG to ET and penalties.

And yesterday, they were crap, but very obviously knackered after the aforementioned midweek PSG game.

Spread too thin I think, a few more recruits in midfield and defence last summer would have helped.
