Somehow a Liverpool team, that looked like it was cantering to the Premier League title, easily stumbles in cup competitions. Perhaps they are not as strong as the league position would suggest?

In the FA Cup they played a weakened side - too weakened, and that was a mistake, but it wasn’t like the first team lost. In the CL they took an awesome-looking PSG to ET and penalties. And yesterday, they were crap, but very obviously knackered after the aforementioned midweek PSG game. Spread too thin I think, a few more recruits in midfield and defence last summer would have helped.
